Heating and gas engineering.
First lead from local search within a week.
The brief.
Gerri found me through Google local search, which is worth pausing on, because it's exactly what he then wanted for himself. He was after someone nearby, someone he could meet and rely on rather than a name at the end of a contact form.
There was no website at all. A blank sheet. He had his colours, his logo and some photographs, and no way for anyone to find him.
The work.
What came across in the first conversation wasn't the technical side of the trade. It was how set he is on the customer having a good experience from the first phone call to the last invoice. So that's what the site leads with, rather than a services list.
On the about page there's a photograph of Gerri and his dog Pickle standing outside the van. Not a stock image of a smiling engineer in a clean shirt, a real photograph of the man who'll be turning up at your door. It doesn't lead the site, but it runs right through it.
Underneath it, the ordinary work done properly: pages built around the services and the areas he covers, and the Google Business Profile set up to say the same things as the site.
The result.
The first lead from local search came in within a week, from a customer on his doorstep. Someone who'd been that close the whole time with no way of finding him.
South Gyle and Corstorphine sit next to each other and feed off each other, and between them that's about as competitive as heating gets in Edinburgh. Showing up there inside a week is not nothing. And there's a neatness to it. Gerri found me through local search, then got his own first customer the same way. Local business finding local business, which is the whole point of doing it properly.
Power On.
Gerri knew business was going elsewhere and he needed to be findable. Being local, he popped into the office for a coffee, and nearly three hours later we both knew exactly what the site needed to say. I set low expectations early on, always do, so hearing about that first local enquiry was a good day. He's getting service requests through it now.
The evidence.
Captured on 25 August 2026. Second of the three shown, on six reviews, against a business with two hundred and ninety. Search results move, so treat this as a record of that day rather than a promise about today.
In their words.
“Amazing service and experience. Contacted Martin to design and launch my website and from initial contact was first class. Friendly and personable while also the consummate professional.
My request to design a bespoke new website exceeded all expectations.
From initial meeting I made it clear to Martin that I was in no way tech savvy, and that I was a little apprehensive of what would be involved. Also, I gave him very little to go on however what he has produced is amazing. Through, what seemed to me, informal chats he's managed to create my vision.
Great communication all the way through, I was always provided updates on progress and the guidance Martin provided has been invaluable. He was more than happy to break things down so I fully understood.
Little extras like helping with social media posts and QR code, as documented in the photos of review, were a nice touch.
I would highly recommend Power On Web Design and I look forward to working with Martin as the website grows and develops.”
